There are 2 types exchange programs that's offered; MIX and UHM Study Abroad Center (UHMSBC). I have decided to apply for MIX because they have an exchange program in Korea which was my first choice country. MIX and UHMSBC has different programs and locations offered so please make sure to visit their websites and decide which one is the best fit for you. They also have a key differences listed here.
When applying for MIX, there're criterias where you must be eligible:
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
You must have completed one year at UH Manoa (Sophomore standing)

Here's are some information that will be helpful:
Letter of recommendation
It's required to get one letter of recommendation from someone who can talk about your academic abilities. The form is provided on the MIX website.
Application deadlines
Summer, Fall and Academic Year: December 1st
Spring: May 1st
Choose your top 5 universities
It's not required to choose 5 universities and you can select N/A if you don't have one. However, it's not always guaranteed that you'll be nominated from your first choice of school. It's good to list your top 5 choice just in case.
Prepare for short essay questions
You'll need to complete some short essay questions and it will ask you why you have chosen these partner universities and make sure to mention all of the universities. If not, MIX will assume that you don't have a good reason to go to this school and will take this into consideration when nominating. I recommend that you copy and paste the questions and take your time to answer.
Passport
Please have your passport with you because they'll ask you about the information from your passport.
$30 Application fee
Once you're done with the application, MIX will announce your nominations through email with in 1-2 months (after the deadline date). If you decide to accept your nomination, then MIX will email you the pre-departure checklists and the deadlines with specific information such as insurance, health history form, course approval form, mandatory orientation, registering for placeholder course, and so on. They will keep you updated and if you ever get lost, don't hesitate to email or to make an appointment.
